A large number of teenagers are into varying degrees of alcoholism and even drug addiction in Nebraska. It is estimated that a frightful 80% of teenagers in the state have binged at some point or another in their young lives or at least had a taste of alcohol before they are 18 years of age. A significant number of these people have taken up other forms of addiction such as drugs. One of the most significant problems here is the young age of the patients. At that age, it is difficult to administer drastic modes of treatment. However, since these are developing years for the teenagers, the addiction can take a strong hold on them and may demand for strong medicinal therapies. Thus, it is a dilemmatic situation for the treatment providers.

Another difficulty is the high rate of denial among these patients. Youngsters will never want to accept that they are with a problem and that they need treatment. There is also the danger of the young people taking up other forms of addiction on the way. They might fall into more dangerous forms of addictions, which will make their recovery even more difficult.
